Merry Christmas!

Hi Everyone and Merry Christmas!

I am so happy to be back to blogging and what better way than to be able to wish all my DWB friends Happy Holidays!

This is our Christmas tree. Mom had to set it up on the back porch. You will understand why later in this post. She did a nice job decorating it and even put pink lights on it.

This morning Mom gave me my presents. I got a really cool stuffy toy. I think it looks a little bit like my darling Pippa! Speaking of my darling Pippa, I want to wish you and extra special Merry Christmas. I hope you got some extra toast with butter and other wonderful stuff.
I also got a nice new big dog bed, but somehow the picture just disappeared! Mom took our truck to the car wash yesterday and gave it a bath. She also decorated it with a really cool bow.

Now I can tell you why we had to put our tree out on the porch. First I must tell you that my mostest favoritest kitty pal Misty went to the Rainbow Bridge in September and I have been missing her a lot. Well, now I have TWO new kitties to play with! This one is Latte and mom thinks Latte is a little boy cat. Mom is not too smart on that so she will find out for sure on Tuesday when she takes them to the V-E-T for their kitten checkup and shots.

This is my other new kitty and this one is named OJ. Mom thinks it is a girl kitty. Mom thinks she looks like an orange creamsicle, but that is too much name for a little kitty, so she decided on OJ.

They are really cute but they are definitely into EVERYTHING! They are not even afraid of ANYTHING! My very old sisfur Angel is in the house because she is very weak because of her very old age(14) but mom keeps the kittens away from her "just in case". We could use some prayers for Angel.

We got to go for a short run two weeks ago and I got to run lead with my dad dog Dave. I have a new sisfur--she came to live with us March 1 all the way from Alaska. She ran in the team and did really good. Wow! we have a lot to catch up on! But for today, enjoy a special day with your furry brothers and sisters and your human pawrents and share some extra love with everyone!

Haa rooooo everypup & kittie!

It has been soooooo long since I have posted. There has been a lot of stuff going on, but I convinced Mom that this is important too! Well, she agreed, so we are BACK!!

Yesterday was Father's Day and I hope all the dads out there had a wonderful day. This is how my dad Dave's Father's Day went..........First of all, let me introduce you to my very handsome dad, Dave! Mom let him run loose in the kennel area with Jasmine (his girlfriend) and Angel (the oldest member of our team). It was a bea-woootiful day --not too hot and lots of shade. Dave LOVES running around and playing with
Jasmine. Angel loves to snooter around BOL!

After running around for awhile, it was time for Dave to treat himself to some of his favorite drink..nice cool water!

This is Dave taking a break with his sweet Jasmine. She is a really sweet girl and dad just adores her. When they are loose in the kennel, he almost never leaves her side. And this shows you just how much he loves her! He was thanking her for making Father's Day extra special!

Silly Blogger is not letting me type under the last picture, so I will have to pupdate everyone on my next post....and I PROMISE it will be very soon!

Back at last! and my brother Blaze

Haa rooooOOOoo Everypup!!

It has been soooo long since I posted and I have missed you all very much. Mom's computer crashed and Auntie Kat's would not behave, so Mom finally broke down and bought this bea-wootiful pink laptop! We have had a lot of things that have happened, but I will fill you in another day.

Today I want to tell you about my older brother Blaze. Now some of you know what has been going on because I have been doing pupdates on my FB page. Blaze has been suffering with a urinary blockage caused by crystals...not the pretty type that we have here. He has had to have surgery a couple of times in the past 2 weeks. My darling boyfriend Pippa (muwah) dedicated a post on his blog to Blaze today. You can read it at http://pippadogblog.blogspot.com/

I wanted to share some pictures of Blaze and let you know that he is doing better. Mom says it is going to be a "journey", but with all the pawsitive energy we have been getting, I just know he will be OK.

This first picture was taken on one of the RARE occasions that we had snow here this past winter. He really does look like Pippa, don't you think?

Mom took this picture while Blaze was at the V-E-T's office. He has been spending a lot of time there so they can make sure he is making pee.

This is Blaze going for a leash free walk in the garden...hey! how come I don't get to do that??? Just because I run really fast and ignore Mom???

Now I don't want you to think that Mom has been spoiling him or anything, but did you notice that he has a PILLOW to put his head on? haa rooo

I am glad that he is home and getting better. It was really scary when his bladder actually ruptured and Mom had to come home early from the DWB get together in New York. She said she didn't mind because wanted to be here to take care of Blaze.

He certainly looks comfy now!

Now, this is where we want Blaze to be...all healed and back in lead for Uncle Tom's team! Yup, that is Blaze in lead with Loki, then Dante (on the left) and Nikki, and in wheel are Wolfe on the left and my other brother Lakota's butt on the right.

Ahhhh SNOW!!! What a wonderful thing to think about on a HOT July day!

I have to go supervise the supper making. I promise I will fill you in on the other things that have been happening. I appreciate all the prayers and the Power of the Paw that have helped Blaze. Please keep that energy coming! I love you all so much...especially my sweet Pippa!!

Good MEWS

Hi Everybody!
We have some good MEWS! haa roo.... Mom has been talking to Auntie Kat and Merlin is doing better. The blood work was not back on Friday afternoon, so still waiting for that. The V-E-T thinks that Merlin had a seizure. Hopefully it was an isolated incident. He is now able to walk and his eyes are focusing. He is not totally better yet, so please keep those healing vibes & prayers going! The Power of the Paw!!
Auntie Kat asked me to thank all of you for your vibes & prayers.
I will keep you posted on Merlin's progress.

Healing Vibes Needed Please!

Hi Everybody!
I need a favor from every pup, kitty, hammie and hooman. Mom got a phone call from Auntie Kat tonight and one of her kitties, Merlin, has suddenly become very sick. She rushed him to the V-E-T and he has had blood tests. They are not sure if he was attacked by the seizure monster or something else. Right now he is home and Auntie Kat is staying right by his side.
Soooo....we need some emergency prayers, healing vibes and pawsitive energy to help Merlin get better. Can you please help? We all know how powerful the power of the paw can be! Thank you all in advance for your help. I will keep you posted on his condition.
Here are some pictures of Merlin, the magic cat....He is a VERY sweet boy. He is a Ragdoll cat, so he is a BIG cat! Look at those pretty blue eyes.

Happy HOWL-o-ween!!

WooOOOooo all!
Happy HOWL-o-ween! I helped mom by announcing the Trick-or-Treaters tonight and now I got some computer time! Haa rooo!
In honor of Halloween, the True Color this week is BLACK, so here are some of our BLACK things. First, these are mom's BLACK sheets. They are very soft and the embroidery is very pretty.
This is something brand new! Mom got it today. It is a BLACK tool box...and look at the name...it is a HUSKY tool box!

My daddy dog, Dave, is mostly BLACK. This is one of our favorite pictures because it is of Dave and Auntie Kat. She is a very special lady and we all love her very much.

Now, would Halloween be complete without the next 2 BLACK things?? The first is the witch hat the mom wore tonight to complete the outfit she wore to greet the Trick or Treaters. haa roo!

And now....saving the best for last on HOWL-o-ween.....the EVIL BLACK KHAT!!!!!

I'm BACK and in the PINK!

Haa rooo all!
Wow! It has been a long time since I have been able to get the computer away from mom!
She has been busy with work AND she has been playing some FARM game with Rocky's momma, Turbo's mom, Snowball's jie jie and some other DWB moms!
I recovered from my false pregnancy and am feeling perfectly fine again.
This Thursday's True Color was PINK! That is a color we really like here. First of all, here are some pretty PINK impatiens flowers that were right outside the gates of the new kennel. Mom brought them in the house this week because it got real cold here in CT.

I have been ducking Mom & the flashy beast, but she got me! It is a little chilly in the house today, so I am wearing the PINK sweater that my dear friend Snowball sent me.

In the hutch, mom has her pretty dishes. They have PINK roses on them and the cup and saucer right in front are PINK !

Haa roo...we really do have a lot of PINK in our house, especially in our kitchen. Mom even has a PINK coffee maker!! Isn't it pretty?

I saved the best stuff for last...our PINK harnesses!! It has been very chilly here...which is GOOD news for us! We are really hoping that it stays cold so we can get out and go running real soon!
We did a demo recently to help promote adopting dogs from shelters. Mom took pictures and I will post them real soon.

I have really missed all of you very much and am so happy to be back to blogging!

Let's Just Add Insult to Injury!

OK, everypup, THIS is just NOT FAIR!!
As you know, I got spayed last Thursday. Now, I didn't think I was doing anything wrong, but mom dragged me back to the V-E-T this afternoon. The reason?? Because she thinks I was acting "weird". I mean, HONESTLY?? Do I look like I am doing anything weird?
Well, friends, it gets even better. She told the V-E-T that I have been whining, not eating much and carrying my stuffie toys around, putting them under Auntie Kat's bed or on my bed or mom's bed. So they took my temperature (EXCUSE me, that is an EXIT ONLY!) and then flipped me over to check my incision. The incision was FINE. Ready for the verdict????Are you all sitting down???
I am having a FALSE PREGNANCY!!!! Is that not the WEIRDEST thing?? I don't even have a puppymaker anymore! I am even producing milk!
They gave me a shot that will hopefully "shock" my body out of this. If it doesn't, mom & I will just have to deal with this for a few weeks. There was no way to know before I had my surgery, but the V-E-T said that it is good that we did the surgery or this would have started happening a lot and would have gotten worse each time. This way, once I get through this, it will not ever happen again.
Oh well.....I am going back to my bed to be with my puppies, errr..stuffie toys.

The New Kennel!

Hi Everypup, kitty & hammie!
I have been telling you that something special has been in the works here since March. I am happy to announce that on June 20, my team mates got moved into the brand new kennel area!
It is only about 20 feet from the house, so mom is able to keep a closer eye on everyone and keep everyone safer than before. It will also be much easier for her in the winter and SOO much easier to load us when we are going running!
Allow me to give you a tour. We are looking east and this is the entrance. This is looking south and is the view from the street side of our property. That is Uncle Tom checking things out before he & mom started moving dogs, barrels, posts and cement blocks. The new area definitely got his stamp of approval!

MISSION ACCOMPLISHED!! Everyone is moved in & getting comfortable. The only change mom had to make was to switch the 2 dogs right in the front of the picture....that's Velvet on the left and Lakota on the right. Dave was not totally comfortable with Lakota, so mom swapped those 2 around. Dave was much happier because he was used to having Velvet next to him in the old kennel area. The dog moving in the picture is Jasmine (Dave's girlfriend haa roo!)

Here are Angel and Blaze. They are just to the right of the dogs in the picture above. Blaze now has a special piece of mesh called "shade" over his area. It blocks 80% of the sun so now he has as comfortable a space as everypup else. Oh, this was taken at breakfast time!

Here are Velvet in the front and Dave, my daddy dog in the back.

Here is my daddy dog Dave relaxing in the new kennel area. Do you see the windchimes right near him? Mom got them out of the old area a few days after the main move. They sound so beautiful and all of us enjoy them.

I will get some more pictures as soon as mom finishes putting in the plants along the kennel fence. She has put a cedar planter on each side of the kennel gate and is planting lavender and some other flowering plants.

Mom took me for a nice walk in the yard today. It felt real good to get some fresh air & exercise! I checked out the old kennel area and got to see all my team mates in the nice NEW area!

I hope you enjoyed the tour of new kennel area. I am going to head off to bed now.

True Colours Catch-up & the DECEPTION!!!

Greetings every pup, kitty & hammie!
Here we go catching up! Haaa roo! we are almost there! First let's catch up on our True Colours Posts, hosted by our wonderful friend Blue. Last week's color was LEMON YELLOW. Welllllll.....not much of that color around here. But WAIT! I found a LEMON YELLOW LEMON on the mirror painting in the hall!
Now for this week...NAVY BLUE! We like blue colors here. Here are two of mom's eye shadow colors. They are actually darker in real life...just about NAVY BLUE!

I have something in NAVY BLUE too! This is my walking harness. It has howling wolves on it and it is the color of the week!

This is mom & my FAVORITE picture of something NAVY BLUE. Mom is wearing a be-wootiful NAVY BLUE dress. It has lots of fancy stitching on it. This picture was taken last year at her brother's wedding. That very handsome man in the suit is my dear grandpa. The other man is his brother. He is my mom's godfather, so he is a real special guy too.

Now I need to tell you all about the DECEPTION that happened to me on Thursday. I THOUGHT mom said I was going to have a SPA day. I knew something was up when we arrived at the V-E-T's office. It was not a SPA day.....it was a SPAY DAY!!!! YIKES!!!

I sure didn't expect that! To mom's credit, she stayed with me through the ENTIRE thing. She even held onto one of my feety feets during the surgery. YES, she watched my surgery! They trimmed my nails (the only SPA thing they did!) and cleaned my teeth while I was asleep. I was starting to wake up while I was still on the table (surgery was all done) so they carried me out and put me on a nice big fluffy comforter to finish waking up. Mom sat on the floor with me and pet me. I wasn't scared at all because she was right there. At one point, I was already trying to stand up, but my tongue was still hanging out. Mom said I looked like I had one too many pawtinis! Very shortly, the world stopped spinning and the doctor said we could go home. Everything was done in less than 3 hours! I have been resting, as you can see. Here I am on my bed with all my stuffie toys. That big sheep stuffie keeps the evil black KHAT away from me!

Mom has been very good to me. She has given me canned food, watermelon (YUMMY) and vanilla yogurt. Here I am enjoying my yogurt. I am getting lots of treats too. Maybe this SPAY thing isn't so bad after all.

Here is a picture of my incision and what mom calls my "doggie Brazilian" shave. The incision is not very big. I have been very good about leaving it alone, so I do not have to wear a satellite dish!

Well everypup, I am still a little tired, so I am going to take another nap with my stuffie toys. I will try to do another update tomorrow.

I'm Back & Starting to Catch up

Greetings everypup, kitty & hammie,
I have not been able to post for awhile due to some "stuff" that has been going on. Life is starting to get back to a more normal state, so I should be back to blogging on a regular basis again. Now we need to catch up.
First of, we all wish to send our sincere condolences to the OP Pack on the loss of Princess Dakota. May she be running North of the Rainbow Bridge with her silver harness flashing in the moonlight. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.
Next, we need to catch up on our True Colour posts. To jump back a few weeks, here are some of my IVORY toys. Mom also has an IVORY teddy bear that sits on her dresser.

Now I will start to blend the colors! haa roo! Here is Diana, who is BLACK & TAN and she is kneading my IVORY sheep stuffie toy.

These are my BLACK & TAN toys!

Now we are up to this weeks color, which is MAROON! I found these pillows in mom's room. They have squiggles on one side and stripes on the other!

In our kitchen, mom put up new curtains and they have MAROON in them. Look at the fancy wood work above the curtains. My grandpa did that...he was a really talented man!

Here's the last MAROON item I could find to share with you. This is Auntie Kat's

bed and it has a MAROON and gold comforter on it. I like to sleep on her bed because I can look out the window and see what is going on in the front yard or on the street. I have to watch out for KHATS or evil squirrels, right?? haa roo!

Well, that catches me up on my True Colours. Tomorrow I will share something special that happened here last Saturday!

True Colours Thursday times 2! Gray & Cobalt Blue

Grreetings everypup,kitty & hammie!
We got it right this week! haa rooo rooo It is True Colours Thursday, hosted by our friend Blue. This week's colour is COBALT BLUE! Now, we missed posting last week, so I wanted to share our bit of GRAY which was last week's colour. Here are 2 of my toys--a Canada goose and some other kind of bird and even though the other bird LOOKS brown, it is actually GRAY!Also, look at the pretty embroidery on the sheets--it is GRAY too! So....we have covered the GRAY ...gee that sounds like a commercial! hee hee!

Now, on to this week's colour! I found some really cool COBALT BLUE things here. Now, I know I showed you the crystal ball before, but because it is COBALT BLUE I wanted to share it again.Mom went shoe shopping recently and look what she came home with--COBALT BLUE shoes!

Aren't they cute? Mom says they are comfortable, but I don't think I am going to try them on.

This is Mom's favorite tea cup. Her momma gave it to her and not only is it COBALT BLUE, but is has two running wolves on it! If you look close or make the picture bigger, you can see them a little better.
Last but not least, I wanted to share my mostest favoritest toy in the whole world. It is my COBALT BLUE squeaky bone. If I am feeling scared or lonely or if Mom is going away, this is the toy I want. I will bring it to Mom and she knows right away that I need an extra hug.
Well, that's my GRAY and COBALT BLUE things! We have some interesting things going on here and I will try to post about some of that tomorrow. Thank you for stopping by. I do love sharing my True Colour things with you!

True Colours TURQUOISE (yeah we are playing catch up!)

Haa roooo everypup, kitty & hammie!
I am SOOOO late with my True Color post! I wasn't sure if it was even going to get done today because Mom fractured a bone in her wrist and has to wear a splint for at least a month!
Anyhaarooo, while she CAN type, let's get rolling with TURQUOISE!!! What a pretty color to look for! I went into Mom's make up box and found three TURQUOISE eyeshadows.
This is our teapot. It is a pretty shade of TURQUOISE as are ALL of our pots & pans! They make our kitchen look nice & colorful.

Next I got one of our husky stuffies that has TURQUOISE eyes to model with some of Mom's TURQUOISE jewelry. And look on top of it's head---it is a ring with a TURQUOISE blue topaz stone! haa roo!Now it would just not be right to do this post without me getting into it somehow. So...Mom put on her new TURQUOISE & lapis ring and took this picture while she did something I absolutely LOVE...TUMMY RUBS!! Yup, that's my tummy and one of my feety feets making the TURQUOISE look extra special! hee hee

This is the most important TURQUOISE item I have. It is the bracelet that Mom wears all the time. It says "PROTECT OUR PETS" and it is for pet cancer research. Mom got it from the Blue Buffalo dog food rep. The organization is PetCancerAwareness.org if you want to check it out and get YOUR hu-mom or dad a bracelet too.

True Colours Thursday...on Saturday again! oops!

Greetings all & happy Saturday!
Well, we are late again for our True Colours post. The computer has been locking up, so hopefully we can get this done before it happens again. This week's color is CERISE-a bright pink! We LOVE this color and I could easily find lots of CERISE things. First off, here is a Capodimonte piece with pretty white doves and CERISE flowers.

Next, here are some of our "good" china pieces. The design is called Old Country Roses, and as you can see, the roses are CERISE!! Aren't they pretty? Mom says the best part of these roses is that they don't have THORNS! haa roo!

Now you all know that we have quite a collection of husky stuffies...but here's one you did not see before. This special one sits on top of mom's computer monitor and wears some very special CERISE beads. They are special because Grandpa gave them to Mom.

Another reason that CERISE is abundant here is that it is our kennel color. Our harnesses are CERISE as is our sled bag. Harnesses come in two basic styles, so I wanted to share both with you. On the left is an "H-back" or "trail" harness. This kind of harness is good for a wider body type dog. On the right is an "X-back" harness. This kind is good for a long, lean body type dog. Supposedly it is harder to "back out" of, but trust me, that is NOT necessarily true! haa rooo! The X-back in the picture has black padding on it, just like the blue padding on the H-back...it just didn't show up because of the dark background.

Here I am modeling one of the H-back harnesses. Our harnesses are VERY comfortable because Mom makes sure they fit us properly.

We have lots of pretty pillows to decorate Mom's bed and one of my favorites is this CERISE one. And look....there is some CERISE in the other pillows too!

Now this is a very special CERISE flower. This is to wish my very best friend SNOWBALL a very Happy Barkday! Her barkday is tomorrow and CERISE was chosen to celebrate her barkday. HAPPY BARKDAY SNOWBALL!! I chose this pretty CERISE orchid as a special tribute to you, because you are beautiful too!

True Colours Thursday...ummmm..on Saturday

Happy Saturday everypup, kitty & hammie!
We are a little late doing our True Colour post. Mom was too busy chatting with Rocky's mom on Thursday....silly hoomans! This week is RAINBOW!
This bea-wootiful dresser is something Auntie Kat brought. Look at all the colors in it! It has such pretty colored flowers and all the colors of nature.
This is one of the trophies that Amber and Angie won in a 2 dog race in Rhode Island some years ago. The amazing thing is that both of them were 10 years old when they won it! It has a RAINBOW of colors all around the middle of the trophy.

Now I needed to get creative. Mom has a lot of baseball caps in many colors, so I gathered up a bunch of them to share with you. It is a RAINBOW of caps! haa roo!

Next I gathered up a whole bunch of my toys and as you can see I have a RAINBOW of colors in my toys! I love different colored toys...and these are ALL squeaky toys!! haa roo roo!!

I told mom that since she was late on getting this post up, she needed to contribute to it. So here is what she came up with. She has some RAINBOW jewelry! Isn't it pretty? Thank you mom for helping out!

Sorry this was two days late, but I hope you enjoyed our RAINBOW of items. I am off to play with some of my colorful toys. hee hee

True Colours Thursday--RUST

Haa rooo everypup, kitty & hammie!
I'm back after letting Lakota do our post yesterday. Today is True Colours Thursday and today's color is RUST! I COULD have put pictures of mom's truck up today, but I decided to be nice and skip most of the RUSTY things. However, I did have to include one. The latch pins on the dog boxes are RUST. Don't worry, they are weathered, but perfectly safe for us. Mom would not have it any other way! That box happens to be Lakota's! My favorite music to listen to when we are travelling is Loreena McKennitt. The package from one of her cd's is RUST colored. This happens to be one of my favorite cd's. I paw at mom & give her that "look" to get her to play this music any time I am in the truck with her. haa rooo!
Before Auntie Kat left, she gave mom a special present...and it is this purse. And lo & behold, it is RUST colored! Thanks for helping us out, Auntie Kat!

I saved the cutest RUST thing for last. Mom has a "Autumn" teddy bear, and she is wearing a dress with LOTS of RUST colored leaves & flowers and even has RUST leaves in her basket! Isn't she pretty? Mom keeps her well out of my reach. I wonder why????? hee hee

Well, other than mom's RUSTY truck, that's all I could find nice in RUST to share with all of you. Next week is RAINBOW. Oh my! I better start hunting around NOW!!

Huskies on Parade!

Hi there Everypup, kitty & hammie!
Lakota here! Skye let me take over today so I could share my adventure with mom from Sunday. We are from Connecticut and the University of Connecticut Women's Basketball team had a perfect season AND won the National Championship. So....there was a parade in Hartford on Sunday to celebrate & honor them. The Connecticut Valley Siberian Husky Club was invited to march in the parade with dogs! I was SOOOO excited! I never got to walk in a parade before! Uncle Tom picked us up and off we went to Hartford. In the first picture, you can see Uncle Tom's van with the club banner and from the left...Dante, Loki and me. We had our harnesses on and were getting ready to head up to the place where the parade would start.
Here I am with mom. All of the divisions are lined up and ready to go! Look at the neat bandana I have on! One of the ladies made these for all of us to wear.

Here is most of our group. Mom had to take this really fast, because the parade was starting!

I got to meet that pretty black & white Sibe gal after the parade. She is soo pretty!

Here I am...in harness, focused and pulling! I did work the crowd all the way along the parade route. I got lots of pets & compliments. Mom had a heck of a time carrying the banner and still letting me greet my many admirers! haa roo!
This is a picture of Loki. Uncle Tom was carrying the other side of the banner and Loki was working the crowd on that side of the road!
AAAHHHH!!!! Nice cool grass!!!! Boy did that feel good after the parade! This was taken right on the front lawn of the state capitol while we were waiting for the ladies team to finish the parade route. After a nice break, we got to meet and play. It was a LOT of fun!

Barkday Party Pictures

Hi Everypup,kitty & hammie!
I promised you more pictures from my barkday party--so here they are! Mom had to be really fast to get a picture of each of us before we finished our portion of that yummy cake!
The first pup here is Velvet. She is definitely an "eager eater" and polished her cake off VERY quickly!

Next up is my handsome daddy dog, Dave! He especially enjoyed the STEAK part of the cake.

Here is Angel! She looks like mom surprised her with the flashy thing on the camera! Don't worry, she did not let it deter her from enjoying her special treat!

Miss Jasmine LOVED this! Can you tell??? She was looking for more! haa roo!
This is Blaze, digging right in! Sometimes he is a slower eater, but not with this!
Here is Angel again...she actually STOLE Dave's dish and brought it way over by her house so she could lick it clean! He did not eat all of his mashed potatoes, but there was not a single MORSEL left when Angel got done with the dish! hee hee!
Lakota can be a VERY fussy eater, but in this picture, he is enjoying his SECOND PORTION of my cake! Can you believe it? He just LOVED it!
Last of all, here I am. After all, you have to clean up after a party, right? So I am doing my job, cleaning the dish thoroughly! Mom said I did a really good job! I can't wait til she makes that kind of cake again for the NEXT dog's barkday!

True Colours Thursday--LIME GREEN

Haa roo everypup, kitty & hammie and welcome to this week's True Colours Thursday!
This week's color is LIME
GREEN. This one really had me scratching my head. Then I looked at mom...her SCRUBS have LIME GREEN in the design and her pen has LIME GREEN on the top and the finger grip! I went into the bathroom to see if there was anything in there that matched this week's color. Look what I found! The paper towel package has LIME GREEN on it!

Now, I did manage to find some LIME GREEN outside. These are flowers that grandma planted a long time ago and they are coming up nicely. Those are daffy-dills hee hee!WOW!!! Look at this!! LIME GREEN tennis balls! This has GOT to be the bestest find of LIME GREEN !
Lakota had to check them out. Here he is giving one of those LIME GREEN tennis balls a good sniff.

Looks like they passed "inspection"! OOOO! Now doesn't he look like he is having fun? Lakota LOVES playing with LIME GREEN tennis balls! He loves to carry them in his mouth and then chase them around his area. He pushes them around with his paws & snooter! Haa roo! he is so funny!

My Barkday & Happy Easter!

Hi Everypup, kitty & hammie!
First of all, I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter! We had a quiet day here, just enjoying time with Mom. She shared some kielbasa and hard boiled eggs with all of us today. She said that is a special tradition. It was YUMMY!
Speaking of YUMMY, look at the barkday cake that mom made for me! Snowball's jie jie told her how to make it. My barkday was Friday, but we celebrated yesterday so that all of us could have some of this cake. She made it with mashed potatoes, green beans and STEAK!! Here is the cake with the candle lit. I turned 6 on April 10.
Mom put the dish on the floor so she could get a picture of me with the cake. I just could NOT resist...I started eating it right away! Haa Roo! Here I am being a "proper" lady dog enjoying my cake on a REAL dish!

This is a VERY special present I got from my very best friend Snowball. Her jie jie did this drawing of me. She did a be WOOtiful job!!
Snowball also sent me this lovely poncho. I wore it all day today. It was chilly in the house, so it was extra nice. I really love the poncho--Thank you Snowball!! This picture was taken on my favorite chair.

I got some new stuffies for my barkday and for Easter. I am not sure what to make of that HUGE lamb...it does squeak--makes a good pillow too! hee hee I got a Canada goose that honks too!
Mom took pictures of the rest of the dogs enjoying the cake. I will try to get those up real soon!

True Colours Thursday--Black & White

Haaa ROO every pup, kitty & hammie!
Here we are celebrating True Colours Thursday again! Today's colour is BLACK & WHITEE together. This one was not too difficult. In our family Dave and Velvet are both BLACK & WHITE. Two of our kitties, Diana and Starr are also have BLACK & WHITE together. I was able to get Diana to pose and show off her pretty colors.
Auntie Kat left some cool hawk feathers here in the plants. Look at them...they are BLACK & WHITE! Last week, you got to see some of mom's teddy bears. Well, mom has an even bigger and I think BETTER collection of husky stuffies. She finally has a place to display them and many of them are...you guessed it..BLACK & WHITE !! I sure enjoy participating in True Colours Thursdays and hope you continue to enjoy sharing them with me. Tomorrow is my barkday, so please join me in our celebration!

True Colours Thursday--SCARLET

Greetings all!

Here it is, True Colours Thursday again!

This week the color is SCARLET. Mom has a some neat teddy bears and two of them are Christmas bears. Both of them are wearing SCARLET outfits! Someone very special to her gave her the big white bear in the next picture. That bear has a SCARLET bow and mom put a SCARLET baseball cap on it for today's special post. Doesn't it look cool?
Next I have a picture of a VERY special present that mom received from Auntie Kat. It is a tote bag with 3 kitties on it and there is LOTS of SCARLET on it!

I had to hunt for the next SCARLET item.

It is a set of salt & pepper shakers shaped like strawberries. Mom's Aunt Pat who now lives in Alaska made them for her. She did a be-wootiful job on them!

The last SCARLET thing I found was this cool statue of cardinals. Cardinals were my grandma's favorite birds, so mom got this for her. Now it is one of mom's treasures.

Mom asked me to add one more thing. When she was a little girl, her momma used to sing a song to her. And the name of the song? SCARLET RIBBONS!

That brings back sweet memories for mom. Thank you for letting us share our SCARLET items and their stories with you.

Huzzy Wednesday and the BIG CAT!!

Greeetings everypup, kitty & hammie!

We have not had the chance before to participate in Huzzy Wednesday. I STILL won't do a Huzzy pose for mom. However.......Starr, the litte Huzzy...DID pose for her! There she is, sprawled in all her glory across mom's bed!

Mom said she is going to try to get some of the other dogs to pose in the future. Velvet loves tummy rubs, but she usually gets those at night and mom can't get pictures in the dark! hee hee

Now, something else has been going on here. There have been strange tracks in the area where are new kennel is going to be. And today, there was a BIG yellow and black CAT sitting out there! Not doing anything, just sitting and waiting! Well, being the guardian of the house, I had to make sure that I checked it out...after all, we can't have a strange BIG CAT hanging around here, can we???

Well, here is the big CAT that is out in the yard! Haaa RooOOOOooo HAPPY APRIL FOOL'S DAY!!! That is the machine that is going to dig the holes for the fence posts. But...I didn't lie, really...look at the pawprints that big CAT left!

No Snow Demo

Happy Sunday every pup, kitty & hammie!
A few weeks ago, some of our team and mom participated in a winter festival held at a local orchard. There was no snow...just mud...so they did not get to do any running. Mom brought our sled along so the humans could see a REAL dog sled. Only Angel and Lakota could go because the Siberian husky club was invited, so only Siberian huskies could go.
It was a long demo, but Angel and Lakota said they got LOTS of pets and attention.
The first picture is Angel in front and
Lakota behind her. There was a nice cold wind blowing across the field and pond. Next...here come the humans! Lakota was sucking up LOTS of attention.He even got tummy rubs! In the next picture, you can see our sled behind Lakota. They are waiting for the next "wave" of big & little people. Angel and Lakota made sure mom got a picture of Uncle Tom's dogs too. The picture is looking down the line. Starting in the front is Wolfe, Loki, Dante, Alex, then Angel and Lakota. Oh, Uncle Tom has one other dog, Nikki, but she was tired and was resting in her crate in the van.
In the last picture, mom caught Uncle Tom relaxing with Nikki and Loki. He and
mom think that is just the best way to
relax and honestly, we all agree! Nothing like relaxing with them and getting lots of attention! Haa roo! After all, keeping us happy is their #1 job, right?? Sure looks like Uncle Tom is doing his job.
Well, it has been raining here all day, so I think I am going to find Misty or mom and convince them to take a nap with me. Hope any of you who were in the severe weather yesterday are all safe!

True Colours Thursday--BEIGE

Hi Everypup, kitty & hammie,

Welcome to True Colours Thursday! This week the color is BEIGE! Wow! I don't personally have anything BEIGE, well, except for my undercoat and I wasn't standing still for mom to get a picture of that! So....let's share what I DID find around here. Mom loves coffee with creamer, so that is BEIGE. Our house and our garage are both BEIGE. That's our garage in the picture. Mom wears mineral makeup and guess what? Her shade is medium BEIGE!!! We do have one member of our team who matches the color

of the week...Blaze is BEIGE! Haa rooo!!! Blaze is one of our team lead dogs and sometimes he runs with our Uncle Tom's dogs too. He is very handsome, don't you think?

I like to save the best for last...my favoritest kitty in the WHOLE world is Misty and look at her....she has BEIGE fur! She is really sweet and her fur is very soft. I love sleeping on Mom's bed with her. Yes, I know she is a KHAT, but she is also my sister and for a KHAT, she is a good one!

True Colours Thursday--GREEN

First of all, mom & I and the rest of our furry family want to thank you all for the kind expressions of sympathy on our loss of Becky. It sure means a lot.

Well, today is Thursday and the color of the day is GREEN! I found LOTS of GREEN to share with woo all.

First of all, we have GREEN plants that Auntie Kat left here. They are in the rrom that is painted GREEN.

Next I found this cute bunny statue with GREEN beads wrapped around it. Mom actually wore those beads to work

on St. Patrick's Day!
Look at what I found next! There is a can of our Alpo dog food with a GREEN label. Diana's favorite food, Temptations, comes in a flavor in a GREEN bag. I also found a pretty GREEN vase that belonged to my human grandma and a GREEN trivet.

I went down to our room and gathered up some of my GREEN toys...well the GREEN teddy bear is actually Auntie Kat's...but I "borrowed" it! hee hee

I had to save the "best" for last...mom received a package last week and ... welll...I just couldn't resist opening it! It was stuffed with GREEN paper. I had it all OVER the carpet! It was such

fun! Well, until mom saw it and RE-PACKED the package! She can't open it until this Sunday! I hope I can help her open it then!

Sad Day

Hi Everypup, kitty and hammie,

Today is a very sad day. Becky, the one non-working dog here has not been feeling well lately. Mom took her to the V-E-T this morning and was told that she had extensive cancer. Surgery would not give her more than a month or so. Mom decided that she had to love Becky enough to let her go. Becky has donned her silver harness and is running free and healthy North of the Rainbow Bridge.
She was almost 14 years old. These pictures of her were taken during the
Goodie Exchange last summer. She was
a very shy dog, but loved Mom and
Auntie Kat very much.
Please say a little prayer or light a candle for her safe journey.
She will be missed.

True Colours Thursday--VIOLET

Haa roo everypup, kitty and hammie and welcome to True Colours Thursday!
The color this week is VIOLET! I had to search high and low for some VIOLET things here! I checked ALL of my toys and none of them are VIOLET. Hooowlever....I did find some things, so here we go!
Last Thursday, I showed a picture of a mirror in our hallway. Well, here is the other side of it...and guess what? Those are VIOLET colored flowers and did you notice the light VIOLET wall? Isn't it pretty?
Next I went in the bathroom and I found a bewootiful VIOLET washcloth. I also found some VIOLET colored Mr. Clean cleaner. There is also a VIOLET clock...uhhh, mom, you forgot to "spring forward" hee hee (she HATES the time change!)
The last thing I could get a picture of is a
VIOLET candle.

There are two other cool VIOLET things here...the railings on our back porch and our mailbox are both VIOLET but it was dark out by the time mom got home, so we could not get pictures of them.
I sure enjoyed sharing our VIOLET things with you! I hope you liked seeing them.

True Colours Thursday--YELLOW

Haa Rooo everypup, kitty & hammie!

It is True Colours Thursday and today's colour is YELLOW! Had to do some hunting around here for YELLOW things.

Auntie Kat's room and the kitchen are painted YELLOW and in the kitchen, mom has YELLOW gloves for washing dishes. In the hallway, there is a mirror that looks like a window and part of the painting is the pretty YELLOW flowers and lemon in the first picture.

When mom went out to feed, we realized that the bag of dog food for Velvet is YELLOW!!

Next, I went to my toys and guess what?

Two of my toys have YELLOW in them! My big stuffed jack has a YELLOW point and my ducky has a YELLOW beak!

Last of all, as a husky, I could not resist putting in a picture of...you got it...YELLOW snow! HAAA ROOOO ROOO!

Gosh, I thought YELLOW was going to be tough! Hope you all enjoy True Colours
Thursday!

Tomorrow we are going to visit a school to teach little ones about dogsledding AND good dog care! I will let you all know how it goes!

True Colours Thursday--BROWN

Hi Everypup, kittie & hammie,

Here it is again...BLUE's True Colours Thursday and today's color is BROWN!

Most of the pups here have BROWN eyes and at least some BROWN fur! Let's see what else we have around here that is BROWN. Let's start in the kitchen, where we have our BROWN Hitchcock hutch. Diana is sitting on the table. She is a calico cat, so she has lots of BROWN fur!

Look what I found on the top of the computer desk!

There is a BROWN wolf candle holder, and two statues that have BROWN on them..the cat's face and parts of the wolves!
Next I want to show you the many shades of BROWN on the faux fur throw on Mom's bed. I have made sure to add some of my real BROWN fur to it! hee hee!
The last picture for today is two of my favorite BROWN toys...my Christmas reindeer and my VERY first stuffed toy..my ram! Now can you guess who that is next to my toys?

That is Starr! She is the cat I have told many of you about that is always swatting me! Hey, if she is sitting with my toys, does that mean SHE is a toy too??? Hmmmm....I will have to check on that!

Hi Everypup, Kittie & Hammie!

Awhile ago I promised you some more pictures from our snow run. This team is my daddy dog Dave in lead on the left, Jasmine in lead on the right and ME in wheel! We love running this trail with mom. It has some hills which are a little work going up, but WOW are they fun going down!!

You can see what a nice day it was and how be-WOOOtiful this trail is! Can't you just imagine being out there running too?

Did you notice that all of us have our ears facing back? We do that so we can hear Mom when she talks to us or gives us commands. She can tell right away if there is something "distracting" ahead of us on the trail if our ears suddenly swing forward!

She gets her foot on the brake right away if she

sees that! You can also see that we keep our tug lines nice and tight. That means all our power is going to the sled.

The last picture is after our run. We are back at the area where we set up and are reunited with rest of our group. They had their run earlier. Mom had already taken their harnesses off so they could totally relax. We just got our water and will get our harnesses off shortly.

All of our wonderful snow is pretty much gone now...yes, the snow thief hit here too. Right now, we have ice on the trails, so we have not even been able to go running with the wheeled rig.

We are hoping the trail conditions will improve so we can get some more running in before it gets too warm!

True Colours Thursday--BLUE!

Greetings everypup, kitty & hammie!

Wowzers! where did a week go?? Well, here it is Thursday and I am happy to share BLUE things from our house to yours! We love BLUE and have a lot of BLUE things. First of all, here I am modeling a light BLUE harness--I really did not feel like posing for the camera today, can you tell? Next we have a cool collection of BLUE Moondance Huskies stuff--there is mom's BLUE polarfleece top and her BLUE denim jacket...both have an embroidered design of a sled dog and Moondance Huskies Sled Dog Team on them. Mom's BLUE musher hat is on the left. In the center is one of our pink harnesses that have BLUE polarfleece padding and in the front is one of our BLUE lines.

Mom has a BLUE crystal ball--isn't it pretty? Do you remember who in our team has BLUE eyes?? Lakota! And guess who ELSE has BLUE eyes? MOM!I sure enjoyed sharing our BLUE things with you.

Color of the Week--SILVER

Hi All!

We decided to join in the fun and do Blue's Thursday Color Post. This week the color is SILVER! I was a little scared that we would not be able to participate this week because we had a power outage today from high winds....but we are OK and "up & running"....so here we go! First of all, I am going to show you some of Mom's SILVER jewelry.

Don't you love the SILVER pawprint and dog sled with 2 dog team pendants? Next, here are the SILVER howling wolf earrings that were given to her by a friend.

Next there is a crystal dish with a SILVER design. The dish was her mom & dad's from their 25th anniversary, so it is very special. Mom puts her cell phone or her truck keys in it. We also have a heart shaped SILVER dish that Auntie Kat put a cat shaped candle holder in. We keep it in the bathroom. The last thing is a SILVER basket that Mom keeps her spare shower poofs in. OOOHHH!

we DO have one more VERY special something SILVER here....Lakota is a SILVER and white Siberian husky!!! Hope you enjoyed some of the SILVER in our house! I think next week is BLUE!

Sled dogs running on SNOW!

Hi Everypup, Kitty and Hammie!
We have been lucky enough to get some snow recently and our trails were perfect for running with the sled two weekends ago. Mom took a bunch of pictures on the trail while we were running...she is quite a talented human, don't you think? I will have to do 2 posts in order to share all the pictures.
In this one, I will share pictures of the first team out which was Blaze and Angel in lead and Velvet in wheel. First of all, here is a picture of our sled. Isn't it cool? It is a beautiful handmade sled and it is stained dark walnut in color. Look at the sled bag--it is hot pink and silver to match our harnesses.
Now, let's get back to our team on the trail. The first picture of the team is on the way out to the lake and is before the "haw" (left) turn we take to get to the lake. The second picture is going up one of the hills. See how nice and tight we keep our tug lines? The tug lines are the ones that go from the center line to the loop at the end of our harnesses--just about where our tails start. The tug lines transfer all our power to pull the sled. We always stop at the lake for a water and rest break before we turn around to run back in. The last team shot is on the way in and the team is going to be going down a hill and around a curve. Mom has to hold on tight and use the brake because we love to go fast on downhills! Shortly after that shot and AFTER that downhill, we turn onto the trail going back to our "campsite". On this run, mom almost lost her balance on the sled because the team came around a curve sharply. It takes a few runs before humans get their "snow legs". We NEVER have that problem! Haa rooo! The team made it back and had a beautiful run. Next I will post the pics from MY run and tell you about our adventure yesterday!

Winter Festival/Faux Race

Hi Everypup & Kitty,

A couple of weeks ago, our team participated in a Winter Festival in Willimantic. There were about ten teams that came from around Connecticut. We were there to show people about dog sledding and what better way to do that than to have a "faux" race?! A one mile trail was put in for us to run. We got some snow a few days before, so we actually got to run with our sled! Mom and her friend Tom had changed the runner plastic on her sled, so she decided to take the "slower" team out first. That team was Blaze, Angel and Velvet. The first two pictures here are of them going out and then on the way back in. A little later, she took Jasmine, Dave and me out for a run. We had a great run, including a sharp, clean turn around! The fourth picture shows you a nice close look at my team. Thank you to mom's friend Jim for taking those pictures for us. We met a lot of nice people and in fact, the wrestling team from the high school asked to have their team portrait taken with US!!! Of course Mom said it was fine! We enjoyed all the attention--we got lots of pets from everyone. AND we got to run on snow! How much better does it get??!! I hope you all enjoy seeing these pictures of us running as much as we enjoyed doing it!

SNOW! Glorious snow!!!!

Haa Roo Everypup, kitty & hammie!

We got SNOW here in Connecticut! It started on Friday, stopped for awhile yesterday and has been snowing all day today. We had about 10 inches on the ground on Friday night and we got another 4 or 5 inches today! Yes, we are sled dogs, but this is actually too much snow for us to go running in--can you imagine that!? We did go out last weekend and ran with the wheels. Mom broke us into 2 teams so that we all got to run. I ran with my daddy dog Dave and Jasmine. We did a real nice 4 mile run. It

felt real good to be back in harness again! And I really enjoyed the ride home--snuggled under a
blanket next to Mom. Hmmm...the lettering just changed, but at least the pictures loaded! The first one is looking out the front porch on Friday night. Look at that snow coming down! The next one is Mom's truck (and OUR dog box) yesterday. There is almost that much snow on it again today!

Next up, is looking toward the kennel. The path to the kennel is between those 2 boxes and UNDER those snow covered hemlocks!

Don't you love the picture of Jasmine (in mid shake), my daddy dog Dave (the handsome mostly black dog) and Blaze? They were really enjoying the snow.

The last picture is Lakota. You can tell he had his snooter in the snow because Mom caught him with a snow nose! If you look in the background, you can tell he made some yellow snow! hee hee!
Mom has to go dig the truck out again tonight, but I
asked her to put these pictures up first! Last night she

was too tired to do it after digging out both the truck

and the car. I hope all of you that got snow are getting

to enjoy it. We had hoped to go sledding today, but

Mom believes in safety first and with the storm going

on all day and the possiblity of ice, she decided it was

better to stay home and be safe. Besides, with this

much snow, her truck probably could not make the

hill into the forest! So we will wait (again) and hope

there is still snow to run on next weekend! Mom and

her friend Tom put new rails & plastic runners on the

sled, so we are READY as soon as the weather co-

operates! In the meantime, we will enjoy the snow--

playing in it together and playing "catch snow" with

Mom. Everyone be safe and have a very Merry

Christmas! Hope Santa brings you all lots of new toys

and yummy treats!

HOWL-oween plus 1 & I'm BACK!!

Hi Everypup, kitty and hammie!

Hope you all had a safe and Happy HOWL-oween! I have SO missed blogging, but there has been a lot going on here which I will fill you all in on. My dear, sweet Grandpa passed away at the end of July and Mom & I have been very sad. I want to thank all of you who sent us fabric squares. Mom is making the quilt and says it will be a healing quilt celebrating Grandpa's life and showing the love of the DWB family.

Now to happier things, Mom gave me TWO new toys for HOWL-oween and they both have black cats!! We had a lot of cute Trick-or-Treaters last night and Diana and I let Mom know when they arrived and supervised giving out the treats. Mom said we were a big help and gave me a nice dog cookie as a reward....NO CANDY for me!!

Everyone in Mom's office dressed up yesterday and one of the ladies took a picture of Mom. That is a black cat toy on her shoulder and she is holding a crystal ball. She looked really pretty. She said one office dressed up as characters from the "Wizard of Oz".

As you all know, we are working sled dogs here, but here it is, November 1 and it is 60 degrees outside! We are all anxious to get out and start running. It is supposed to be in the 30's tonight so maybe tomorrow....... I will let you all know!

There is a lot more to tell you all, but I am going have to do it a little at a time. I am just really glad to be back and look forward to catching up on reading your blogs and hearing from all of you.

Position is Everything.....

Greetings Every Pup, Kitty and Girl Girl!
Hope you all had a nice Fourth of July with NOT too many annoying fireworks! Unfortunately, there were lots of silly humans setting off fireworks near our house, so Mom gave us all some valerian root to help calm us. Well.....it sure didn't work for Blaze! He was barking for most of the evening, but what's a dog to do???
It has been raining a lot here so there has not been much to do. I decided to show some pictures of us just relaxing. There is a saying that "position is everything"....well, hope you enjoy OUR positions!
The first one is me and my favorite kitty sister, Misty. We like to curl up together on mom's bed.
The next one is Diana, one of my other kitty sisters. Doesn't she look comfy on that faux fur throw? The colors match HER colors haa roo! The next two are Lakota, showing us how to do the "twist". Personally, I don't know HOW he can be comfortable like that!
The last picture is Merlin. He is one of our Auntie Kat's kitties. He and his brother are Ragdoll cats.

I am going to turn over the blog to Velvet today. Thursday was her "Gotcha Day". We decided not to post on Thursday because we were all so saddened by Baby Love's passing. We all wish her godspeed and much joy as a healthy dog at the Bridge. Soft woo's to Baby Love, Skye

Hi Everypup!
My name is Velvet. I am a girl Alaskan husky about 4 years old. I was born in Alaska and lived there until last year. On January 31, 2007 I was dropped off at the Fairbanks Animal Shelter. I don't know why. The people at the shelter were very nice to me. There is a very nice group of people who call themselves the "Second Chance League" who work with the shelter to help find homes for dogs like me. They took me running and included what they thought of me in my "bio". In March, I was lucky enough to go into foster care with a wonderful lady named Miriam. Foster care is a great place to be until you find your forever home because you don't have to worry about being put to sleep and you are in a loving home instead of at the shelter. Mom read my story on the shelter website and contacted Miriam to learn more about me. Well, I was a perfect fit for everything Mom needed, so she had Miriam adopt me. I was to live with her until travel arrangements could be made. Originally, the plans were to have me travel in October.....however...I was lucky enough to have them find someone travelling East in June!! Mom got an e-mail saying that I would be arriving in Boston on June 26, 2007!! Oh my dogness, she had to quickly get things ready for me and get time off to go get me. She did it and early in the morning on June 26, 2007, I met my forever Mom! I was reallly tired after my 12 hour airplane ride, so I slept all the way back to Connecticut. When we got here Mom took me out to the kennel to meet my new family. One of the dogs was barking at me a lot and it scared me, but Mom told me it would be OK. She put me next to Dave, who came over and quietly greeted me. I knew then that I was safe and had truly found my forever home. Living here has been wonderful! Mom takes us running every weekend in the fall & winter and the kennel is shady in the warm weather. She takes real good care of us and gives us lots of love. Here are some pictures of me. The first one was taken shortly after I arrived here. The second one was taken at Cockaponsett State Forest where we go running. That is me with my buddies shortly after a run. Next one was taken at a school demo this spring. I love meeting all the little bipeds! The last two pictures were taken recently. As you can see, I put on some weight since arriving here and Mom decided I needed to be on a "diet". Hmmmm....I am getting some different food, but it is really good, so I guess that is OK. I can't believe it has been a whole YEAR since I got here! I love living here. I want to thank the humans at the Fairbanks, Alaska shelter, Carol from Second Chance League for running me and to Miriam for being my foster Mom and getting me to my furever home! Also a thank you to the nice couple who escorted me from Alaska to Boston so I could come here so much sooner! Most of all, I want to thank my Mom for taking a chance on me. She made her decision without having the opportunity to meet me in person. I promise you I will never let you down! I love you Mom! Thanks for adopting me!

Goodie Exchange, Part 2

Greetings again!
Here are some more pictures from yesterday's fun! First we have Lakota checking out the box of goodies...hmmm, what shall I have first???
Next we are out in the kennel. Dave is licking his chops in anticipation of getting a wonderful treat.
He loved the beef strip that Aunt Kat gave him, as you can see! Next it was Jasmine's turn and she got a yummy beef strip too!! She was very happy.
The last picture is Becky. She just got her peanut butter sandwich cookie. I can't wait til I get try one of those!!
I sure hope everyone enjoyed their Goodie Exchange treats as much as we did. Thanks again Butchy and Snickers AND to Chef and Mr. T-Bone Beasley for coming up with the idea!

Haa Roo Everypup!!!
First of all, I want to thank Rocky and Sitka for "checking" on me. Everything is OK here. Mom's back was hurting her, so she was not able to sit at the computer and take my dictation. Also the weather here has been horrible! Very hot and then constant rain! Our Goodie Exchange package arrived safely, but Mom would not let me open it until ALL of us could enjoy it. And yesterday was that day! Our Aunt Kat gave out the treats so that Mom could take pictures. The first picture is of me sampling a yummy beef strip from Butchy & Snickers' package. There were all kinds of cookies and a really nice card from them. The next picture is Aunt Kat with Lakota. See how nicely we take cookies?

Next up is Angel gently taking a Paul Newman chicken flavored cookie. The last picture is Blaze. As you can see, he is trying VERY hard to help Aunt Kat decide which kind of cookie he should sample. He thought that if he did a nice "sit" he would get more than one! LOL!
Mom got a few more pictures, but the site only let us put four of them up. We will try to do a "Part 2" with those pictures.
Butchy and Snickers, THANK WOOO so much for the yummy goodies! We will be enjoying them for some time! We really enjoyed being part of the Goodie Exchange and hope we get to do it again.
Also I will certainly try to make sure Mom gets back to posting as close to daily as possible.

Greetings Everypup!

Thank you to Skye for letting me have this opportunity to share my "Gotcha" story with you. Three years ago, Lakota and I were rescued from an abuse situation in Maine. We had been starved. Twelve of us were saved. Sadly, eighteen dogs perished, including my sister, Skye's mom and all of her brothers and sisters. We were taken to the

Central Aroostook Humane Society in Presque Isle, Maine. There we were gently nursed back to health. Lakota was the first one of our group to be adopted. Mom had been speaking to a nice lady at the Humane Society and arranged to come up to adopt me after I had some surgery. One week before she was to come up, Lakota was returned to the shelter. The lady that Mom had contacted asked her if she would be interested in adopting another dog. Mom was very surprised, because on their last phone call, everyone had been adopted! The shelter wanted Lakota to go to a good home with someone who understood huskies. Mom decided that YES, she would take Lakota too. Mom had to drive ten hours to get there from Connecticut. She drove up the day before so that she could be at the shelter first thing in the morning. She met the nice lady at the shelter and spent some time talking to her. FINALLY they came to the kennel area. I saw her and I was SO excited I jumped up in the air and started doing a very happy husky dance! The shelter lady said that they had not seen me that happy in the entire time I had been there. They let us out in the play yard for a little while before we left. I was a little afraid to get in the car because the last time I went in a car, I went to the vet and came back with a sore tummy!

Mom convinced me that it was OK, so I got in and stretched out across the back seat of the car...nice and comfy! Lakota tried to sit back there too, but he ended up riding in the front seat because I was not giving him any room. It was a long drive back to Connecticut in the rain. Mom did not put us out in the kennel right away, but when she did, I was very happy to meet my new kennel and team mates. Lakota did not like being in the kennel--he becomes a whiney hiney after about an hour, so Mom made a special place for him right off the back porch.
The past three years have been absolutely wonderful! I do remember going to the vet shortly after I got here to get my stitches out and he told me "No one will ever hurt you again!" and he was right!

Mom loves us and takes such good care of us. I proudly run lead for her team. I love her so much for adopting me and giving me a wonderful home. I know Lakota feels the same way. We hope to be here with Mom for many years to come.

Mom gave us Frosty Paws this afternoon as part of our Gotcha Day celebration. I made her hand feed me mine, so she ended up with....Frosty Fingers! hee hee She promised us extra cookies after supper.

Dave's Barkday and the Sleepover

Haaroo Everypup!

Hope you all had a good weekend. Yesterday was Dave's Barkday! He is now 9 years old, but he sure does not act it. Mom gave everyone extra cookies at breakfast and dinner. She said we will probably have Frosty Paws next weekend to really celebrate! Oh my dog! I LOVE Frosty Paws!! Mom gave Dave a nice massage last night after supper--he really liked that! She even massaged his feety feet and finished off with a tummy rub. Talk about lucky!

Now for a bit of "catching up". Our Auntie Kat stayed over our house a few weekends ago. She loves all of us and likes to spoil us a little. She gives the kitties canned food and I always get to "steal" some. She let Lakota in the house as you can see, he jumped right up on the bed with us!

He snuggled with Auntie Kat and gave her lots of kisses. I was trying to be very good and ladylike. Lakota was just being goofy! Sorry about the two pictures that are almost the same....Mom put the wrong one in! Oh well, she tries.

After Lakota went back outside, I got to share some cheese and fruit--very yummy!

Well, I am going to head off to bed. Let's all keep our fellow DWB member Tasha in our prayers and hope for some good news on her tests.

Tribute to Kira

Today my post is a tribute to my angel sister Kira. Kira was born on May 12, 1989. Mom adopted her early in 1992 along with Kira's best friend, Moon. Mom did not know it then, but adopting Kira and Moon would change her life. They are the reason she got involved in dog sledding, even though it was not something she planned on. If it were not for Kira and Moon, I would not be here to share the story with you. Kira was mom's main leader and a teacher for many other dogs for a long time. She also accompanied mom into the classrooms on many school visits. She was a very happy dog, always the cheerleader of the team. She would be telling mom to take her out again right after getting back from a run. She was also the leader of the songs and she had the most wonderful howl!! She was a dog that everyone who met loved immediately. She accepted me right away,

even thought I was a playful puppy. She taught me how to be a good girl in the house and that if I was nice to the kitties they would be nice to me...at least MOST of the time! Kira was not feeling well in fall of 2001 and had to have surgery.
She had cancer in her liver. Our vet was able to remove it and it turned out to be a cancer that does not usually spread. Kira lived for almost 3 years after that. She left us for North of the Rainbow Bridge on August 30, 2004 while mom held her. Mom still misses her.

Kira is the beautiful girl in lead on the left. Her best friend Moon is next to her. Amber and Raven, who were sisters, are behind them.

I love the picture of Kira celebrating life with a full, beautiful howl.
Doesn't Kira look cool in her bandana and bow? She and the team had just come home from a demo at a vet's office promoting good dog care.
The last picture is Kira and Amber coming in from a run with Mom on the wheeled rig. I think you can all tell what a happy dog she was.

Stuffie Appreciation Day

Haa rooo Everypup!

Sorry I have not posted in awhile. My "secretary", aka mom, says she has been busy. I needed to sit on her and tell her we had work to do!

I learned that today is Stuffie Appreciation Day...well that is CERTAINLY a day I want to celebrate! Here is a picture of me with most of my stuffies. The big ram in front of me on the left is my very first stuffie toy. I picked that one out myself. Do you see something black in the front on the right? Well, that is Starr, the kitty who chases me! You can't see her face, just her tail & butt.(hee hee)

I want to share that I had a wonderful time at the Chat Pawty! I enjoyed meeting so many of you and making new friends! I look forward to reading your blogs and chatting with you again.

So...I will be playing catch up . I have pics and stories to share, but need to go curl up with my stuffies---after all, it is the day to appreciate them! Enjoy yours too!!

Woo Woo Everypup!

I have been reading the wonderful comments left by my all my new friends are realized that I forgot to put a bit of information in way back in my first blog. I am a girl dog. Until I read Khrya and Dave's comments I did not realize there was a case of "mistaken identity"! I am SO sorry! Mom named me after the main lady character in a romance novel.

I think it is really cool that we have 2 Daves. I know another Amber--she is a red and white SiberMal who is part of our running group. My mom had an Amber in her "Original Five", which was her very first team. One of her leaders was Kira. Khyra--How do you pronounce your name?????

The picture on the left is Kira. The one on the right is Kira and Moon. These ladies were mom's main leaders. The picture on the right was taken at a school demo. They taught me a lot when I was a puppy. One of the things they taught me was that kitties are NOT squeaky toys and that if I made them squeak, mom would not be happy! (LOL) Soooo, I am VERY good to my kitties. Well, I have to admit, I would like to make Starr squeak--but that is because she always hisses, swats and chases me down the hall!! In fact, she is coming after me now!!!

Haroo Everypup,

Well, I told you I would try to post a picture of me when I was a puppy and here it is. It was taken on the very first time I went outdoors. The grass felt really funny, but it was lots of fun.

The next picture is of my daddy dog, Dave. This is especially for my new friend Dave from the Ao4.

My dad was rescued in Vermont. The very nice ACO put pictures of all the dogs on a website. My mom saw his picture and just knew he needed to come to live with her. She knew his name would be Dave as soon as she saw his picture. He came to live with mom in June, 2002. He runs wheel on our team although he has run lead in a race. He has a wonderful, friendly personality and all of us love him very much. He welcomed Velvet and Jasmine when they arrived, which helped them relax after their long trips.

I don't look much like him, but mom said I inherited his voice (very loud) and his great work ethic.

Mom gave us our special treat today...it was "Frosty Paws" which is like ice cream for dogs. Here I am enjoying mine. Mine was peanut butter flavor and it was really good! I told mom that if anyone didn't want theirs, I would eat it for them. So far, that has not happened. I was taking a nap on mom's bed (before she was able to put new sheets on it) when she brought me my treat. I was so comfortable that I just asked her to let me eat it right there and she did! Guess I have her pretty well trained, huh??

HaaRoo Everypup!

Yesterday was a special day here....it was my fifth birthday! My human mom said she remembers the day I was born and going to see me that very day. She said she will try to find some of my puppy pictures so I can share them here.

She got a special treat for me--LIVERGREAT! She gave me a nice big slice of it AND a cookie!

This is me waiting for my livergreat.

She also got me a neat new toy. It is a mallard duck and it QUACKS!! I played with it all evening and all day today. Isn't it cool?

Mom told me she has another treat for me and all my brothers & sisters and that we will get that this weekend. I will let you all know what we get.

Well, I am going to go play with my duck. Catch you all tomorrow!

Computer Problems

Hi Everypup!
Wow! It is good to be back on line. Mom's computer crashed (I had nothing to do with it!!) and she had to take it to a friend of her's to get it fixed. She says there is still some information missing, but it is working and I am able to blog again.
We did another school demo recently, but Mom was not able to get any pictures. There was a reporter and photographer there and there is supposed to be an article in the weekly paper. They are supposed to send us a copy and I will let you all know what they have to say. It was pretty warm, so Mom only let Angel, Jasmine and Dave take the teacher for one run around the field. She did let the reporter take them out a short distance too. Jasmine dug a big hole in the wood chips to lie in. She sent chips flying all over everyone! The students had lots of fun meeting all of us and giving us lots of pets. Of course, we were all on our best behavior.
Mom took us out to the forest last Sunday to run. We knew it may be our last run of the season, so we made sure we all ran real good. Lakota and Blaze ran with Mom's friend Tom's team. Lakota always runs with them because he got hit by a car and cannot run fast enough to keep up with my team. Blaze ran with them because they needed a good leader and he was more than willing to help out. Mom ran Angel and Jasmine in lead, Velvet in swing, me in team and Dave in wheel. We had a WONDERFUL four mile run. We did it in about 30 minutes and that was with a break out at the lake which is 2 miles out. We went right past all the other dogs when we got back and went right up to where we get tied out. Mom was very happy and so were we. We really love running with her. She takes good care of us and we like to make her happy. We like going to the forest because the humans always have a cookout and we always get something extra special. They bake sweet potatoes in the fire and those are SOOOOO GOOD!!
Thinking about sweet potatoes is making me hungry....I think I will go see what Mom is making for supper!

School Demo!

Hi Everypup!

We had a really fun and exciting morning today...our Mom took us to school to meet the students and teach them about dogsledding and dog care! All the nice snow melted, so we had to use the wheeled rig. We don't care as long as we get to run, but the sled on the snow IS more fun!

The little humans came out and Mom hooked up Angel, Jasmine and Velvet. Well, silly Angel did not want to run! She said there were too many other good smells to sniff! Mom did get them to do one run, then FINALLY listened to me. I was trying very hard to tell her to hook up me and my dad, Dave. She did and we showed everyone exactly how sled dogs run!!! We took one of the teachers for the ride and she said it was great! Mom was very happy with us. After we got unhooked, we all got lots and lots of pets from everyone. Then Mom went in the school to answer questions while we rested in our comfy dog boxes. Jasmine went in with Mom in case she needed any help.

Notice the "No Dogs Allowed" sign?? We had special permission to be there. That is Velvet getting pets.

Gosh, we had a good time! I can't wait til our next demo. A special Thank You to Sallie and all the nice teachers and students we met today. We hope to see you again!

Haaroo everypup!

My name is Skye and I am a proud member of the Moondance Huskies Sled Dog Team. This is my very first blog, so please be patient with me. I am an Alaskan Husky/Siberian Husky mix and will be 5 yrs old on April 10. My family consists of my Daddy dog, Dave, my "sisters", Angel, Velvet, Jasmine and Becky, my "brothers" Lakota and Blaze and my kitties, Misty, Diana and Starr. We live in central Connecticut with our human Mom who we love very much. All of my brothers and sisters were rescued dogs. Velvet and Jasmine are the newest members of our family and they came to live with us from Fairbanks, Alaska. We are a recreational sled dog team and love going out running on the weekends. We also go to schools in the area to demonstrate dogsledding and educate children on good dog care. We are looking forward to sharing our stories with all of you.
